How to use the Malta Take-Home Pay Calculator

  1. Choose your computation. Select the single, married or parent computation that applies to you.
  2. Enter your gross salary. Type your gross pay and say whether the figure is per year, per month or per week.
  3. Read your net pay. Take-home pay is shown per month, with the annual and weekly equivalents.
  4. Check the deductions. Income tax and social security are itemised, so you can see where the money went.

How is take-home pay worked out in Malta?

Take-home pay is your gross salary minus income tax and your Class 1 social security contribution. The calculator works out both from the 2026 tables, using the tax computation and the date-of-birth bracket you choose, and shows your net pay per year, per month and per week.

Why does the calculator ask when you were born?

Class 1 social security contributions are capped at a weekly maximum, and the cap is not the same for everyone: it differs for people born 1962 or later and people born on or before 31 December 1961. Choosing the right bracket matters most for higher earners, whose contribution reaches the cap.
